Position Title: Youth Summer Day Camp Volunteer

Number of Vacancies: 8

Type of Employment: Volunteer

Duration: June-August 2024, Single or Multiple week commitments

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week,  8 am to 4 pm. Off-site trip days may require extended hours.

Description

Frankford Youth Centre is actively looking for youth summer day camp volunteers to assist with our summer day camp program. As a volunteer, you will work directly with the youth of the Frankford area to provide a safe, welcoming, positive day camping experience for youth grades 6 to 8. The successful candidate(s) are responsible for assisting in the in-person summer camp program. The volunteers will support the director and youth coordinator in the facilitation of camp programming and other camp-related activities.

Duties

  • Assist coordinator and director with program activities.

  • Supervise and ensure the safety of campers at all times.

  • Assisted in organizing camp games, activities, and arts and crafts.

  • Prep materials and assist in set-up/clean-up.

  • Provide mentorship and support to campers

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

  • Must be between 16 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. (‘Clear’ or satisfactory result of Vulnerable Sector Check required over 18 years of age)

  • Responsible and dependable, prioritizes the safety of campers/other staff, etc.

  • An enthusiastic attitude to face each workday with a positive attitude.

  • Must enjoy working with children and youth.

  • Previous experience working with children or youth (babysitting, tutoring, camp, after-school programs, etc.) is preferred.

  • A valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification is preferred.

  • Agreement to FYC Statement of Faith, Mission, Vision and Core Values.

  • Ability to participate in outdoor programs.
