Position Title: Youth Summer Day Camp Coordinator

Number of Vacancies: 1

Type of Employment: Seasonal, Contract

Duration: June-August 2024 

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week,  8 am to 4 pm. Off-site trip days may extend hours.

Rate of Pay: $16.55 per hour

Description

Frankford Youth Centre is actively looking for a youth coordinator to assist with our summer day camp program. As a youth coordinator, you will work directly with the youth of the Frankford area to provide a safe, welcoming, positive day camping experience for youth grades 6 to 8. The successful candidate is responsible for assisting in the implementation and facilitation of the in-person summer camp program. The youth coordinator will support the director and coordinate the youth workers in the facilitation of camp programming and other camp-related activities.

Duties

  • Assist the Director in program design and delivery.

  • Supervise and ensure the safety of campers at all times.

  • Organize camp games, activities and arts and crafts.

  • Assist with the planning and execution of break time games and activities

  • Provide mentorship and support to campers

  • Prep materials and assist in set-up/clean-up.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age within the calendar year. Criminal Background Check is over 18 years of age.

  • Ability to develop, organize and lead camp programming.

  • Responsible and dependable, prioritizes the safety of campers/other staff, etc.

  • An enthusiastic attitude to face each workday with a positive attitude.

  • Must enjoy working with children and youth.

  • Previous experience working with children or youth (babysitting, tutoring, camp, after-school programs, etc.) is preferred.

  • A valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification is preferred.

  • Agreement to FYC Statement of Faith, Mission, Vision and Core Values.

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and have a valid Social Insurance Number.

  • Ability to work in outdoor programs, as well as standing for prolonged periods of time.
